The Art of Backstory: Using Flashbacks and Flash-forwards

April 17 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Eastern Time

If you were able to attend any of my previous workshops in this series, you know we came together as a writing community to cover various nuts and bolts writing topics. I love hanging out with writers! Want to join me?

Here are the details about this FREE one-hour workshop The Art of Backstory: Using Flashbacks and Flash-forwards on April 17, 2021, at 1 p.m. Eastern time.

Flashbacks and flash-forwards allow you to reveal backstory not by telling a character’s history, but by showing the events that made the character who he is today. It’s a risky proposition, though, because many times, it’s a thinly veiled excuse for an info-dump. You’ll learn a 3-step decision-making tool designed to help you determine whether to use one or both of these techniques, and if so, how to implement them well.

If you’re interested, sign up here, and I’ll send you what you need to access the workshop. You can also find a flyer for the event here.

I’d love if you could help me spread the word about my free workshops by sharing the flyer or a link to this page via email or on social media. Tell your friends! Invite your writer’s group! How about your book club? Readers welcome, too! Thank you so much!
